Marines use certain Devil fruits to their advantage and become formidable foes for their enemies. Some fruits are more glamorous and cooler than others. To be fair, Eiichiro Oda probably introduced the Devil fruits to make his children eat healthy and in the process created one of the most interesting weapons in One Piece. The Devil Fruits used by the Marine are ranked below. (Disclaimer: these rankings are subjective)
10. Sabi Sabi no Mi (The Rust-Rust fruit)
The fruit was eaten by the Marine Captain, Shu. This Paramecia-type fruit lets the user cause metallic items to rust and break. Shu can rust the weapons of opponents rendering them useless. If the weapon comes in contact with any part of the body, not just the hands, it will immediately break apart. The user of the Sabi Sabi no Mi is called a Rust Human.
9. Ori Ori no Mi (The Cage-Cage fruit)
When the user consumes this Paramecia-type fruit, they gain the ability to turn victims into a metal cuff by binding their bodies. The user can also shackle more than one object at once. This acts as a great defensive ability as the user can cuff multiple opponents nearby. The user of this fruit is Hina, a Marine Officer.
8. Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus (Dragon-Dragon fruit, Model: Allosaurus)
Ryu Ryu no Mi turns whoever eats the Zoan fruit into an Allosaurus. X Drake, the user of the fruit, can turn into a hybrid or fully into an Allosaurus at will. This fruit gives abilities that work best in close combat, such as sharp teeth and claws. The tail can also be used as a weapon. Since the fruit is an ancient Zoan, its abilities are more durable. However, unlike other fruits, this fruit does not give high mobility making it a comparatively weaker fruit.
7. Moku Moku no Mi (Smoke-Smoke fruit)
Eaten by the Smoker, the Moku Moku no Mi gives the user the ability to control and transform smoke. This Logia-type fruit can absorb any attacks when the user turns into smoke. It also gives the user improved mobility and speed since they can turn partially into smoke and fly. The Smoker can also envelop opponents in smoke and then solidify the smoke, trapping them in the process. Fire attacks are canceled out when hit with smoke.
6. Woshu Woshu no Mi (Wash-Wash fruit)
Perhaps a parent’s favorite fruit, the Woshu Woshu no Mi, a Paramecia-type fruit, lets the user ‘wash and hang out to dry’ their victims. This fruit takes away the opponent’s ability to move and also washes away evil from the opponent’s heart. The fruit was eaten by the ‘Great Staff Officer’ Tsuru.
5. Mori Mori no Mi (Woods-Woods fruit)
The user of this Logia-type fruit can transform and control flora at will. Admiral Ryokugyu, known as the ‘Forest Human’, can unleash a large number of plants and flowers as an attack. These plants also rapidly absorb any liquid they come in contact with, dehydrating living creatures after impaling them. (This is why you should stay dehydrated, so you do not fall victim to the Mori Mori no Mi). The user can use roots as tentacles and capture opponents. Another advantage is the ability to use photosynthesis, so the user can survive as long as possible if they are exposed to light and water. The real question is: Does Ryokugyu smell like a garden?
4. Zushi Zushi no Mi (Press-Press fruit)
A Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that gets its name, Zushi Zushi, from ‘thudding’. This is because this fruit allows the users to create and manipulate gravitational forces. The abilities the fruit users gain are long-range, incredibly strong, and precise attacks, hence they can move large ships and pull meteors out of the sky. Admiral Fujitora pairs the abilities of the fruit with his sword to create a more versatile attack. The attacks can be disrupted by physically attacking the user. A tip on how to defeat a Zushi Zushi no Mi user? Send them into outer space. Checkmate! (Disclaimer: The author has very limited knowledge of how gravitational forces work)
3. Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Daibutsu (Human-Human fruit, Model: Buddha)
The Zoan-type fruits typically grant humans animal traits, but not this one. It’s not like other fruits. (Haha get it?). The Hito Hito no Mi is a unique fruit that transforms the user into a giant golden Buddha. It was consumed by Sengoku, the former Fleet Admiral of the Marines. Its main advantage is gaining incredible strength, which matches the size of Buddha. In this glowing form, Sengoku uses palm thrusts to cause large shockwaves, heavily injuring multiple people at once. This fruit makes the user a strong opponent due to their ability to attack in a large magnitude and its destructive nature.
2. Magu Magu no Mi (Magma-Magma fruit)
The Magu Magu fruit possesses remarkable power, especially in terms of offense. This Devil Fruit transforms its user into a magma man. Admiral Sakazuki, the person who consumed this Logia-type fruit, can transform his fists into magma and expand them by moving his fist forward. The user can produce and control magma. Physical attacks do not affect the user of the fruit unless they’re infused with Busoshoku Haki. The intense heat from the magma can melt away flesh and metal instantly, making swords useless against the fruit’s user. The fruit is so powerful that Sakazuki was able to defeat Ace with his magma fists. All these factors alone place the Magu Magu no Mi in the top three.
1. Pika Pika no Mi (Glint-Glint fruit)
This Logia-type fruit grants users the ability to control and transform into light. Whoever eats this fruit, Borsalino in this case, is also called a Light Human. The powers acquired by this fruit make the person an exceptionally strong individual. Borsalino can not only transform into light but can also shoot lasers, giving him the advantage to fight at long range too. These laser beams cause massive explosions. He can also blind his opponents, and travel at the speed of light, which, when combined with his physical abilities, makes him harder to defeat. The user can also bypass laser systems due to their immunity to light. While it’s true that at the end of the tunnel, there may be light, in One Piece that is not good news and you should probably run in the other direction.
