Loguetown is one of the central settings of the East Blue, with flashbacks throughout the story of One Piece. It’s a historic place too, befitting of the amount of time devoted to it thanks to the famous residents that are from there. Home to Gold Roger, King of the Pirates, Loguetown is also his death place, and the beginning of One Piece’s initial story. The Great Age of Pirates originates at one point in the East Blue, where Gold Roger gave his final words, Loguetown.

Where is Loguetown?
Considered the final stop of the East Blue, Loguetown is the closest island to Reverse Mountain. It’s the central port for goods to go into the Grand Line or other seas as well, allowing trade among the Blues. Loguetown is also a historic place of tourism, and has a bustling economy thanks to both the trade and tours that come to it. While it exists closest to Reverse Mountain, it’s still a track to reach the base, much less get to the Grand Line itself.
Much like other islands in the East Blue, Loguetown contains a small but dedicated Marine base that oversees the town. When the Straw Hats go through, it’s under the control of Captain Smoker, who leads a relatively fair sense of justice with his force. With him keeping the peace, everyone is content and sees to their own business, with great shops, food, and entertainment scattered throughout the island’s main district.
Birthplace of the Pirate King
While Loguetown might be important as the entrance to the Grand Line, it’s also famous for the residents that hail from there. Namely, the Pirate King Gold Roger. The one who sailed the entire Grand Line and left all his treasure, the One Piece, at the end. Though we now know that there was much, much more to the life of Gold Roger, his hometown definitely takes pride in being the place that made the Pirate King.
The center of Loguetown is known for another part of the Pirate King’s life though- his end. When Gold Roger gets to the end of his life, illness taking hold of him, he surrenders to the Marines. Knowing what he found at Laughtale though, he has a plan, and negotiates a public execution in his own hometown, which the World Government makes sure to broadcast far and wide.
The city of Loguetown may not be notable for much else, but it is a vital part of the journey from East Blue to the Grand Line. Unless even the most experienced of sailors desire to die on their way in, they’ll make a stop in Loguetown to prepare. The only way to get through the Grand Line is to expect everything, making Loguetown the most important part of the journey, in or out of Reverse Mountain.
