Why bother relying on a sword that could get taken at any moment, when the Edge-Edge Fruit just lets someone become the sword? The versatile Devil Fruit of master assassin Daz Bones is a formidable weapon in his array, and one of the first big tests for Roronoa Zoro to overcome in the series. The Edge-Edge Fruit really slices through others, and it could be a great thing to have on the Straw Hats side in the Final Saga.

What is the Edge-Edge Fruit?
The Edge-Edge Fruit is the main power of Daz Bones, number one in the Baroque Works lineup after Crocodile. He’s a fierce fighter, and the Edge-Edge Fruit itself allows him to turn any of his limbs into a weapon. This Devil Fruit literally gives him a cutting edge in battle. Now he’s able to create a sharpened blade from arms, legs, and even right down to his fingertips. It’s a fantastic weapon to use for assassination. Propelling Daz Bones from a minor fighter to one of the most feared hitmen in the West Blue thanks to the Fruit.
A huge advantage of the Edge-Edge Fruit isn’t just the attack capabilities, but defense as well. With the sharpening of his skin, it also hardens to the same consistency as steel. It’s this that gives Zoro his first big run for his abilities. Even requiring him to tap into the voice of everything to cut through. While Zoro wins that fight, Bones goes on to hone his edge even further. Although it’s not until he gets out of Impel Down a few weeks later thanks to Luffy.
Daz Bones
While the Edge-Edge Fruit is a strong as-hell Devil Fruit on its own, no doubt Daz Bones contributes a lot. He’s a fierce fighter, and able to utilize the Edge-Edge Fruit abilities in multiple ways to ensure maximum damage. Whether it’s using his hand like a lethal claw or turning his entire arm into a cutting sword. Daz Bones is able to create plenty of deadly abilities no matter the situation. It’s a testament to his combination of powers with the Edge-Edge Fruit that he becomes the right-hand man to someone as powerful as Sir Crocodile, a Warlord of the Sea.
In the current day, there hasn’t been much chance to see Daz Bones get into the thick of it. He was involved with helping Croc save Buggy at Emptee Bluffs Island, but hasn’t gotten any real action since Marineford. That said, he did do a great job in holding off Mihawk so that the others could rescue Luffy. It may have only been out of dedication to Croc, but he still showed up and showed out. All to save Luffy’s life when it came down to the wire.
Advantages
One major advantage of the Edge-Edge Fruit that Daz Bones utilizes for his job is its discreet nature of it. Since the Devil Fruit turns the wielder into a weapon, it means Bones doesn’t need to carry any around. This gives him a much lower chance of being caught. Not only that, but he’s able to murder anyone he needs with a poke if he wants to. Secretly allowing him to step away as soon as he lands the killing blow.
The other big advantage comes from the hardening ability the Edge-Edge Fruit gives. The user becomes harder than steel, and that affords a much greater defensive capability to go with their offensive one. If the user acquires Armament Haki, they could become a machine of cutting death. Slicing with next to no problem if they so choose.
Weaknesses
Assuming the user hasn’t learned to use Armament Haki though, they’re going to have a time against stronger foes. The user, so far as is known, can only harden to the point of steel like a katana would use. That said, there’s no insinuation that the hardness of the ability doesn’t grow along with the user. It very well could be much stronger now.
The Edge-Edge Fruit is more of a minor Paramecia Devil Fruit, all things considered. No doubt it will play a further part in the story now that Daz Bones is with Crocodile and Cross Guild. The part that remains to be seen is how much he’s trained it since then. If he’s gotten to Awakening, he could make an incredibly powerful ally or adversary to the Straw Hat Pirates on the way to Laughtale.
