Making everyone fall in love with her character, both in the world of One Piece and outside, Boa Hancock is a character everyone dearly misses. The empress of the Amazons, smitten by our MC, has always been around the Strawhats until the recent few arcs. However, things are looking a little dicey for her right now. After the Shichibukai system was abolished and the new bounties of the warlords were revealed, Boa found herself hunted by a new adversary.
Additionally, with how things are playing out, the upcoming year is shaping up to be incredibly important for the ruler of Amazon Lily. But how exactly will things pan out for the beautiful empress? Let’s take a quick look and try to figure out.
Foreshadowing By Oda
As the Shichibukai system ends, Boa finds herself stuck with a bounty of 1.65 billion berries, stating her to be a threat equal to that of an Emperor. Although unexpected, it’s not entirely a surprise, as Boa is one of the stronger pirates in the series. Especially one with an absurdly strong devil fruit to back her strength up. This is also why she was hunted by the Blackbeard Pirates, as they are constantly looking for strong fruits.
In a Jump Vesta interview a few years back, Oda blatantly teased that a few characters would be pivotal in moving the series forward. These characters included Sabo, Vivi, and Boa Hancock. With the recent death of King Cobra and what Sabo found out, it feels like we are at the point where these characters come into play. This means there is a high chance Boa will find herself in a situation. Possiby proving to be crucial for setting up the final saga.
Hunted By The Marines
As soon as the Shichibukai system was abolished, the Marines made their way to Amazon Lily in order to capture Boa. This was a massive undertaking for the empress of Amazon Lily. As most of the warriors of Kuja were ordinary Amazonian women. It’s extremely difficult for them to match up against Pacifistas and marine officers. So Amazon Lily quickly turned into a battlefield where the empress had to hold the entire army back herself.
Although Rayleigh appeared and stopped the march of the Marines, it’s likely that the threat of her capture hasn’t been lifted. Moreover, if she continues staying at Amazon Lily, she will also subject her sisters to the atrocities of war. This has led her to consider leaving the island to start a proper pirating adventure, following the Strawhats.
Running From Blackbeard
Being the dishonorable character that he is, Blackbeard took the opportunity when the Marines attacked Amazon Lily to try to kill Boa Hancock. Since the very formation of the Blackbeard Pirates, they have been seeking strong devil fruits. Unfortunately, the lover of our MC has one of the strongest Paramecia types in the game. The power to petrify a full army that comes with that fruit can be a game changer in any situation. However, the added condition of that fruit makes us wonder who on the Blackbeard crew plans to use it.
Although, for now, Rayleigh has taken care of the threat of Blackbeard. Assuming that he will just give up seems like an ignorant supposition. Although a coward, Blackbeard has shown extreme commitment to his goals. So, the chances of Boa being on their radar is very high. In case she does leave Amazon Lily to pursue an adventure alongside Luffy, she will be hunted by Blackbeard, tying her in the final saga.
What 2024 Has In Store For Her
So, after all of that, what can we expect to happen to our lovely little empress? Firstly, taking care of the Marine situation, it feels like Imu Sama can no longer hold back. Usually, being under the care of an emperor will keep the World Government off your back. As of now, the island of Amazon Lily is under Luffy’s protection. However, that doesn’t seem to stop Marines from attacking her. This is likely because of the return of Joy Boy as Imu is preparing for another war.
Secondly, another thing is for sure. Boa cannot stay at her haven anymore.
The longer she stays at Amazon Lily, the more at risk the members of her community are. The kind of person she is, she will put the benefits of her sisters before her own and make sure they stay safe. This will also allow her to follow after the love of her life. Allowing her to escape the fate the previous empresses have suffered from. Additionally, Oda has confirmed that the world of One Piece in its final leg. Meaning characters will start converging under or against the Strawhat Pirates soon enough. This will probably also include Boa Hancock, especially after a new bounty for her came out.
Boa Hancock’s Fate
Currently, when we talk about Boa’s fate, a few things pop up. Will she be caught up in slavery again? Will she the be next big loss like Ace in Marineford? Or will she end up happily ever after with Luffy? Whatever the case is, we know for sure that she will play a pivotal role in the upcoming part of the series. If she does get caught up in slavery, Luffy will probably turn the world upside down to rescue her, which might be what starts the war. Killing her off is probably the outcome fans will hate the most as Boa has invested so much into her relationship with Luffy. And her dying without getting anything back just seems extremely unfair. As for her getting her happily ever after, well, Luffy X Boa was a ship we were always hoping for to sail anyways.
