In the One Piece world, there are a lot of characters from whom people can draw inspiration. However, no one ever said that they all needed to be heroes. There are many antagonists and anti-villains in the show that say equally amazing stuff. You just have to be well-versed in the manga and series. Or, you could check out our take on the top 10 quotes for different characters.
Today’s character in focus is Kaido. Let’s take a look at what he has to say that makes people love him so much.
Who is Kaido?
Before we move forward, you might be wondering: who is Kaido? If you haven’t caught up to the anime or manga, it’s a fair question to ask. Kaido, the captain of the Beast Pirates, is a Yonko of the sea. He was a member of the Rocks Pirates and was part of the legendary generation, including Whitebeard and Big Mom. Kaido is an Oni, a race that has been wiped out by the World Government.
He is a very strong individual who is known for not being defeated. He is a mythical zoan devil fruit known as the Uo Uo No Mi, Model: Seiryuu. His devil fruit abilities let him turn into a giant blue dragon and a mix between an Oni and a beast. Similarly, he also possesses all three types of Haki, making him one of the strongest characters in the show. Here are our top ten quotes by Kaido in One Piece:
10. “Come on, I’ll take you all on! No one can even lay a scratch on me!”
If there’s one thing we know about Kaido, it’s that he is sure of his strength. This quote shows just how confident he is that people cannot do harm to him. Instead, he even challenges multiple people to come at him at once, knowing he can beat them. Everyone should aim to be as strong as Kaido.
9. “If you’re blaming someone, blame yourself for being so weak.”
Like many characters in One Piece, Kaido has no pity for the weak. In a pirate world, it’s dog-eat-dog, and you can’t risk being the underdog. This is something Kaido learned early on, especially with the rest of his species being wiped out by the World Government. That’s also why he’s big on accountability for loss in battles. This quote helps us see that before throwing the blame around, one should always look inward.
8. “That generation… I’m not going along with your childish games!”
Not everyone’s a fan of the Worst Generation, and Kaido might just top the list. Where the Old Generation was known to gain power through their frightening power, the New Generation does things differently. Kaido is simple in that way. He simply fights and uses his power to get him through battles. He doesn’t rely on games and tricks like much of the youngsters. In many ways, Kaido probably misses having rivals like Whitebeard and Roger.
7. “You wanna execute me? It’s pointless even trying.”
Let’s face it: we love a character who knows they can’t be beat. The only person in One Piece who was going to beat Kaido was Luffy, and that’s a fact. It’s refreshing to see him show his confidence in his abilities. This quote may make it seem like Kaido is full of himself, but he knows his strength. He also has the humility to acknowledge when he’s been bested.
6. “Oh, you did enough; this wound will remain with me.”
Trailing off the point of our previous quote, this one shows the more humble side of Kaido. When worried about not being able to do much damage, Kaido reminds his foes that just wounding him is enough. There have been hundreds of pirates who have attempted this in the past and have not succeeded. But, when someone happens to achieve this feat, Kaido acknowledges it.
5. “You’re really the type of pirate Whitebeard, and Roger were. A powerful type with a certain softness.”
If you’re looking for the nicest thing Kaido has ever said – this is it. When appreciating the type of pirate Oden is, Kaido compares his softness to that of Whitebeard and Roger. He also admits that Oden is very powerful. This quote shows just how much Kaido knew about Whitebeard and Roger and respected them.
4. “I wonder how high your ceiling will go.”
There isn’t a single One Piece character that interacts with Luffy and doesn’t see his potential to become Pirate King. During his battle with Luffy, Kaido also saw all that Luffy had to offer. He wondered how high his ceiling could go while picturing other strong pirates with him. This included Whitebeard, Roger, Shanks, Oden, Xebecs, and many more. It shows just the type of leadership qualities Luffy has in him that make him akin to these legends.
3. “And what kind of world can you create, Straw Hat?”
Another key aspect of One Piece is that characters who see Luffy’s vision genuinely see the truth in it. This quote is Kaido voicing his thoughts as he wonders what kind of change Luffy could bring to the world. This is also supporting the fact that Luffy had entered Gear 5, making it clear that he was Joyboy and the Sun God Nika.
2. “Let this dreary world be destroyed. Let’s start the greatest war this planet has ever seen.”
When it comes to Kaido, wreaking havoc is part of the package. As an individual who craves power and a challenge, Kaido has always been violent. He aims to destroy the world as it is and engage in a battle so great it may bring about his end. He fights for the sake of fighting and takes joy in it.
1. “But death is what completes a person. Isn’t that true?”
One of the most influential quotes of Kaido is that this line actually shows the importance of death for even the strongest characters. Kaido longs for death and to be defeated by someone, and he believes that death completes a person. No one can live forever, no matter how strong. And to be defeated by Luffy’s hands is the perfect way to go.
