Yesterday, Bethesda and co-developer Virtuos officially unveiled The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, a modern revamp of the 2005 classic open-world RPG from Bethesda Game Studios. It was also shadow-dropped at the same time as its announcement on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. However, fans were left wondering if there were any plans to bring the remaster over to Nintendo Switch 2 after the console’s launch this June. According to a new report, that’s the plan.
Known leaker eXtas1s claims that Oblivion Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and there’s “active work by Bethesda” happening right now. It’s not yet known when the remaster will release on the Switch 2 as the next-gen console launches on 5 June this year. Fans suspect that we might get a release date shortly after the console’s release, though we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation from Nintendo first so take this with a grain of salt for now.
The official description for Oblivion Remastered reads:
“The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modernizes the 2006 Game of the Year with all new stunning visuals and refined gameplay. Explore the vast landscape of Cyrodiil like never before and stop the forces of Oblivion from overtaking the land in one of the greatest RPGs ever from the award-winning Bethesda Game Studios.”
Despite being shadow dropped, Oblivion Remastered turned out to be a massive hit moments after launch. Steam charts reveal that the game had amassed over 182,000 players in its 24-hour peak, though that number is expected to go up in the coming days as people return home from work this week. This isn’t even accounting the game’s availability on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, where it also launched day one on Game Pass. Player numbers are speculated to be much higher. We’ll have to wait for Bethesda to give official stats soon.
