One of the four new class types to debut in One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, Sky-type fighters offer a different way to battle. These characters focus on aerial combat, something new to the Pirate Warriors series in the fourth game. So who are the best Sky Types to play and who’s the strongest among them?
9. Sir Crocodile
The former Warlord is just as deadly in Pirate Warriors 4 as he is in the main story. Crocodile starts off fighting on the ground in his human form, making traps from quicksand while slashing with his hook. When he finally hits the Full-Force Burst ability and switches to Logia form though, it’s all over. He turns into a sandstorm, enveloping any and all that go near while zipping across the battlefield to bury more enemies.
Not only does his Burst form make him faster than most others, but it adds a poison effect to his hook. It won’t do a whole lot against minor enemies at higher levels since they’re weaker anyway, but it helps against boss characters. An upgraded crocodile with poison abilities can easily take down higher-level tanks like Jack in mere seconds.
8. Reiju
Another character that utilizes poison for her moveset, Reiju is probably the best of Germa66 for this reason. The other three are okay for Sky types, but most of their movesets are overall similar. Reiju’s gets a little more style though, as Germa’s Poison Pink combines quick strikes from above with poison status effects. Her moveset is still pretty basic, but it’s enough to allow long combo strings while juggling enemies across the map.
7. Sanji
Though his pre-Timeskip moveset is a Speed type, Sanji comes back after the timeskip as a Sky-type fighter. His Full-Force Burst ability allows him to use the Sky Walk, and while it’s not as fancy as some Logia flyers, it gets the job done. He’s able to keep enemies in the air with his kicks, and has a decently wide attack area whether on the ground or in the air. Sanji is a great all-terrain fighter, but it’s in the air that he’s able to really unleash with combos and speed.
The only drawback to Sanji is that many of his special moves just don’t cut it for Sky types. Despite this being his character’s main type disposition, a number of his specials aren’t available to use while airborne. It just leads to a massive disadvantage when in his Full-Force Burst, and that’s too much on top of his inability to attack women characters.
6. Doflamingo
He’s a character that takes a little mastery and time to get good with, but Doflamingo is worth it. The Joker of Dressrosa is a terror in battle, with long-reaching attacks that use his String-String Fruit powers to trap foes. He’s able to draw even more enemies in as he goes, with more powerful combos involving his Awakening powers in addition to the regular Paramecia attacks.
His Full-Force Burst uses his String-String powers to swing from clouds while attacking from above. Along with this, most of his specials are aerial-based and make for deadly combos against crowds on the ground. He’s able to easily wipe out entire areas of enemies and use his Awakening specials for long distances.
5. Rob Lucci
Rob Lucci is a strange choice for a Sky type, but it definitely works in his favor. The Cat-Cat Fruit transformation isn’t used as his Full-Force Burst, but instead, he goes into the Sky Walk mode. It seems like an odd decision, but he’s still able to shift in between his Zoan and human form for attacks even in the air. His specials are also, for the most part, available to use in the air and can cause massive damage thanks to his Leopard transformation abilities.
Lucci might not have the most intricate or developed fighting style in the game, but he can sweep enemies quickly and efficiently.
4. Smoker
The Vice-Admiral is no joke to play as here, with his Smoke-Smoke Fruit at center stage along with his jitte-based combat. Smoker is fast and able to take on crowds of enemies at once with his long reach. Most of his moves will utilize the powers of his Devil Fruit, which also gives a smoke effect to enemies. This will cause both a slowdown and blindness, making it harder for enemies to coordinate. That’s all just on the ground too, as Smoker becomes a totally different monster when his Full Force Burst goes into effect.
He takes on his Logia Form, and can fly through the battlefield at ridiculous speeds. Every attack of his sweeps low and knocks enemies into the air, where combos will hit from all sides before smacking them back down. Smoker is one of the most versatile characters and a perfect all-around Sky type for new or old players.
3. Vinsmoke Judge
The King of Germa and leader of Germa66, Judge seems like he would be too large for a Sky-type fighter. That only helps him though, as Judge is able to jet through the battlefield wielding his massive spear. This, combined with the technology he engineers with the science of Germa, gives him all the abilities of his children in one massive package. He’s versatile and hits hard, but Judge’s real strength lies in his size, which allows quick cleanup no matter the area.
2. Marco
There aren’t many better than Marco when it comes to playing an attack and support role in one. The former Whitebeard Pirate is a menace during big battles, able to use his Phoenix flames for massive attacks that scorch waves of enemies around. He’s even able to heal allies with his powers, which can make him a great support player for multiplayer battles. Those are only his positives when he’s on the ground!
Marco’s Full-Force Burst allows him to assume the hybrid form, using his phoenix wings to fly around the map. Not only is he fast with attacks in this form, but his massive wings cover a huge attack area. Marco can take out entire fields of enemies while restoring his own health, leaving him fresh to fight again when another big foe pops up.
1. Borsalino
The absolute GOAT of Sky types when it comes to Pirate Warriors 4, Borsalino does major damage whether he’s in Burst form or not. His basic attacks take advantage of monstrous powers with his Glint-Glint Fruit and Armament Haki, with fast attacks that focus on forward enemies. His combos hit fast and hard, but they’re nothing compared to his Full-Force Burst activation, which lets his Glint-Glint Fruit go all out.
The Logia Fruit allows Borsalino to fly around the field at the speed of light, phasing through enemies while blasting them back. Speed is the top benefit here, and he’s easily one of the fastest characters in the game with infinite dash as long as his stamina keeps up. The attacks in Burst mode make use of his powers as lasers, making huge sweeps of the field around him. Battles become trivial with Borsalino, and enemy armies will only stand for so long as he takes their lights out one by one.
