There are plenty of powerful characters in the world of One Piece. From the World’s Strongest Man to the World’s Strongest Marine to various self proclaimed kings. There are a lot of powerful people in the world. That doesn’t even begin to cover the powerful Straw Hats who are getting stronger and stronger with each new chapter. However, there are people who are even stronger. Whether they have defeated the Straw Hats in battle or have their upper limits truly untested. Some of the characters in One Piece raise a key question. Can St. Saturn be defeated?
Who Is Saint Jaygarcia Saturn?
St. Saturn is one of the Five Elders who is a public figure in the World Government. His title is Warrior God of Science and Defense, and he knows quite a lot of secrets. He focuses the majority of his efforts on keeping the events of the Void Century a secret. He also understood the effects of the Gomu Gomu no Mi (The rubber Devil Fruit) that Luffy has consumed. As well as the various futures connected to the user of the fruit.
He is one of the Five Elders who hold tremendous power over the World Government. Even to the point where marines at or below the commodore rank would be executed for simply looking at him. He also controls every facet of the World Government and has the ability to do many high ranking things.
What Powers Does St. Saturn Have?
Aside from his tremendous political influence, St Saturn does have quite a lot of physical power. He is strong enough to move an entire island, and was willing to meet with Shanks without any guards. He also has great speed as well as a high pain tolerance, and mastery over all forms of Haki.
Additionally, he does seen to have some magical or esoteric powers. These can include teleportation through magic circles, being able to inflict pain through telekinesis, and above average healing capabilities. But whether they come from magic or from his Devil Fruit are up for debate.
Saint Saturn’s Devil Fruit
His Devil Fruit was the Zoan type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into a horned spider like being. He is gigantic in this form and extremely durable. In the first appearance of the forms, he could manipulate and injure powerful people like Jewelry Bonney.
While the power of his transformation was seen during the Egghead Island arc, his true strength as well as most of his fighting abilities are unknown. But can he be defeated? That is a question that is pretty hard to answer!
Who Could Beat St. Saturn?
A lot of this is going to be sheer speculation because we simply don’t know the upper limits of St. Saturn’s power. He might be one of the strongest characters in One Piece, but some characters might be able to defeat him.
For this, we are going to be taking a look at solo battles. It is likely that certain characters will be able to battle and possibly overpower St. Saturn as a team. But one versus one matches are a little more fun to speculate with.
Roroana Zoro
As the second most powerful of the Straw Hats, Zoro has shown both the mastery of a resilient body as well as a resilient mind. This would not only likely allow himself to deal with the physical side of St. Saturn’s powers, but also the mental effects of his opponent’s telekinesis.
His Armament Haki and Observation Haki powers are incredible. He also has shown constant abilities to slice what appears to be impossible. This swordsman will likely find it impossible to meet St. Saturn without pitting his blades against him!
Shanks
Despite the fact that the five Elders went to meet with Shanks alone and unguarded, that doesn’t mean that Shanks is powerless in a fight. If he were to battle St. Saturn one on one, there is no telling what the pirate could do. Not only has Shanks never met defeat, but he still has his enraged form.
But what allows him to stand a chance in the fight is his ‘Killer Observation Haki’. It allows him to predict the attacks of his enemies. Then he can use his Conqueror’s Haki or Armament Haki to take the enemy down. With the ability to see what his foes will do and the ability to react to it, he would be a contender for defeating St. Saturn.
Monkey D. Luffy
Alright, let’s quickly get one thing out of the way here. This proposed matchup isn’t going to be decided because one character is the protagonist and the other is the antagonist. Luffy isn’t going to win by default because the show is about him. However, Luffy does have some powers and abilities that will put him over the top. For example, he does have all the powers of his Gear 5 state with the various upgraded Hakis. These, along with Toon Force, can allow him to get under St. Saturn’s defenses for massive damage.
His Gear 5 Powers have allowed Luffy to take down massive enemies before. In order to take down one of the Five Elders, he’s going to need every scrap of power. The only thing that might even the odds is that the Monkey God form consumes a lot of energy. This means that the fight will need to be quick. If St. Saturn is able to draw out the fight, then things get interesting.
The Question Will Go Unanswered, For Now
Whether or not St. Saturn can be defeated, and by who, is something that every single fan of the show is asking. Until Luffy and the Straw Hats finally collide with the Five Elders, the question of who would win isn’t one with an answer.
Still, with the Manga and the show falling into its final arc, the battle with the Five Elders can’t be too far away. Then we might finally get to see all of Saint Saturn’s might, as well as who can beat him.
