What Happens in One Piece Chapter 1092?
Egghead Island is really delivering on action and info lately, but chapter 1092 takes the action across the New World. Opening with the view of Kuma going on a rampage in Sacred Marijoa, unsure of what the former Warlord and living weapon is trying to do. Akainu even steps in to stop him during the rampage, and lands a few good hits on him in the process. In the end, he gets away and attention shifts back over to the Straw Hats on Egghead Island.
Egghead is about to go up in flames, literally and metaphorically. The Straw Hats are trying to escape the Labosphere, and if Luffy’s good at one thing it’s destruction. The Marines have infiltrated the Fabiosphere, and the Pacifistas formerly controlled by Sentomaru are now attacking the Sea Beast Weapons so the Navy can get through. It’s a grim sight as Kizaru is fighting Luffy above while the Vegaforce 1 carries the Thousand Sunny to meet the others.
Kuma’s Rampage in Marijoa
It feels like it’s been forever since there was an update on Kuma. The former Warlord was newly rescued and resting at the Newkama Kingdom, seemingly safe. Kuma can’t catch a break though, suddenly flinging himself across the Grand Line into the Red Line upon waking. As for why he’s done it, nobody quite knows just yet. He rampages through Marijoa, laying waste to everything as Charlos and other Celestial Dragons scream for help. It’s honestly a little cathartic to see the Celestial Dragons going through this chaos as their tributes dry up, too. They deserve it, and their crappy attitudes about it even as Kuma rampages are hilariously out of touch.
The showdown between Kuma and Akainu went much differently than expected. While Akainu got quite a few hits in, almost giving Kuma the same treatment he gave Whitebeard back at Marineford, he lets him go at the end. This very well could be the start of Akainu’s defecting from the World government. He’s been showing disillusionment since taking the Fleet Admiral position. Maybe this is enough to make him think about fully dissolving the relationship between the Navy and the World Government. He’s always been about justice, but finally seeing the Celestial Dragons attitudes might have shaken his faith a little.
Back on Egghead Island
The Navy is just having a really bad time in general no matter where it is in the Grand Line. Various countries in Paradise are in active revolution, while the New World is in the middle of two Emperors being overthrown. Everything is going to hell in a handbasket before the Egghead Island incident even begins, then the Straw Hats decide to save Vegapunk. Kizaru has finally gotten through the Labosphere barrier, and Luffy is taking him on in Snakeman form to counteract his light-speed attacks.
There wasn’t even really time in this chapter to check in on the Straw Hats fighting off Rob Lucci with everything going on. Something gives the feeling that the Egghead Island Incident is about to become much more clear though, with things about to come to a climax when Kizaru destroys the Vegaforce while trying to take out Lilith. Thankfully Sunny is okay and Franky is right there, so they’re still going to have a good chance at escape but damn, Kizaru isn’t pulling punches.
Kizaru Follows Orders
It’s really obvious when Luffy asks him why he would want to kill Vegapunk, and all Kizaru can reply is that he doesn’t. That’s it, that he doesn’t want to kill Kizaru but there’s apparently nothing he’s willing to do about it. This is really cold after the small amounts of backstory that have been in the last few chapters. Kizaru owes a lot to Vegapunk and Sentomaru, but now he’s turning his back on all that simply due to orders. Luffy’s giving him a damn good fight in Snakeman the entire time too, but it isn’t quite enough when Kizaru knocks Luffy out of the barrier and down to the ground below.
He moves in QUICK on the others too, and finally confirms the long-held theory about Jewelry Bonney. She’s still just a kid, using the power of her unknown Devil Fruit to appear older and journey across the Grand Line. If she’s still growing that explains a lot of her appetite! Kizaru avoids her hits easily though, and jumps right into the lab where Vegapunk has just broken the code. Kizaru is about ready to land a killing blow when the most unexpected thing happens.
What Wakes the Mecha Up?
Luffy comes back in full Gear Fifth form, lifting the roof right off of Vegapunk’s lab. It’s stupidly funny that his big complaint is about how spicy the barrier was to go in and out of twice, but not surprising. Now, Kizaru is about to get the full treatment of Luffy in Gear Fifth, and after seeing how Kaido and Rob Lucci got their world rocked by it, he’s in for a hell of a time. This fight is about to be nuts, especially since Luffy is already in his Gum-Gum Giant form. Kizaru is literally in the palm of his hand, and it’s going to be a wild fight.
It got even more wild before the end though, as something about Luffy going into Gear Fifth drives the mecha on Egghead Island to wake up. This thing has been dormant for the eight hundred years since the Void Century, so what the hell is happening now? It’s likely a reaction to the Drums of Liberation, much like Zunesha had back at Wano, but will the mech be a friend or foe to the Straw Hats? Hopefully, it isn’t programmed to destroy whoever is causing the Drums of Liberation to beat!
Chapter 1092 leaves off as Luffy is just getting into Gear Fifth, so next week will be an all-out calamity. While Kizaru is busy, the rest have to run toward Sunny and avoid the massive Buster Call about to unleash. Meanwhile, Marijoa wasn’t Kuma’s final stop, so could he be on his way to Egghead as well? Chapter 1092 might just be over, but 1093 is going to bring One Piece into a world of crazy next week!
