Chapter 1108 of One Piece really delivers when it comes to action, as the battle on Egghead comes to a climax. Luffy is facing down Saturn, Kizaru comes in with another fatal attack, and the Giant Pirates are everywhere! It looks like Broggy even straight-up killed a Vice-Admiral, which is… pretty dark for One Piece to be honest. Either way, chapter 1108 is full of surprises, and an even more promising reveal as it ends.

What Happens in One Piece 1108?
Well, things aren’t going well for the Straw Hats on Egghead Island. Or for anyone on Egghead really, because almost everyone has been beaten to hell. Saint Jay Garcia Saturn has taken on a whole new form, even larger than before and more spiderlike. Oh, and he’s now openly excreting a toxin from his limbs, poisoning the earth and anyone around. Somehow while this giant beast of terror is threatening all who come near, Luffy’s stupidly bouncing around with a grin. Leave it to Joyboy to have a laugh even when Vegapunk is dying on the ground nearby.
Luffy goes into captain mode, telling Sanji to run with Vegapunk while he stays back to take on Saturn. Meanwhile, on other parts of the island, Vice-Admirals are falling back against the might of the Giant Warrior Pirates. Just when things look bad for Franky, Atlast, Kuma, and Bonney, Broggy and Dorry manage to come in and save the day. Broggy even straight-up murders Tenso from the looks of it, bringing his ax down on top of the Vice-Admiral. As the chapter closes, the Giant Warrior Pirates continue gathering the Straw Hats when Sanji and Vegapunk are attacked.
Kizaru stabs Vegapunk right through his existing wound with a sword of light. Things… don’t look good. Luffy grows into a giant to hold back both Kizaru and Saturn, but somewhere in Punk Records, an announcement begins.
Saturn Transforms
The Devil Fruit transformation behind Saint Jay Garcia Saturn is already a terror to behold. He’s a massive spider-ox-demon from Japanese folklore, but his hybrid form gives him a spider-centaur-like appearance. Now it looks like he’s assuming his full Zoan transformation instead of a hybrid, and it somehow got much, much, uglier. The spider parts of his body are now massive, almost as large as the Giants from the look of things, and only his head remains human. He’s excreting some sort of toxin from his body too, just letting it flow out unheeded wherever he steps.
That toxin is likely in Vegapunk already too, giving him even more pain to contend with. The smoke wreath around Saturn likely means that he’s in an Awakening form, but that was also there during his previous transformation too. So there’s the possibility some Zoans could have Awakened Hybrid and Beast forms. Either way, Saturn is one ugly monster when it comes to his Zoan form and personality, so it makes sense he has an Awakening.
Sanji Runs
When Luffy tells Sanji to pick Vegapunk up and run, there’s no argument. He knows that his captain has a plan, so trusting Luffy’s direction, Sanji grabs Vegapunk’s body off the ground. The doctor isn’t doing well though, and protests by saying he’s going to bleed out if they move him. It’s obviously painful for him to even move, but the bleeding is going to be the worst for him. With Vegapunk dying by the second, it’s pivotal for Sanji to pick him up and use the super speed he’s been showing off lately. Unfortunately, there’s someone else that’s just as fast after them.
Kizaru comes rushing right in with his Amaterasu Light Sword, stabbing right through Vegapunk. A lot of fans have their theories about Kizaru actually turning on Saturn to help Vegapunk disappear fast. We’re still coping though, because Kizaru’s sword could just as likely have cauterized Vegapunk’s previous wound. It did strike right through the main wound he sustained from Saturn earlier, and the light could be hot enough to actually stop the bleeding. This is one hundred percent coping though, because the chapter ends on a grim note.
Dorry and Broggy Arrive
The Vice-Admirals in One Piece are kind of a joke at this point. They’re constantly getting jobbed in fights, with the last real fighting by them being when Smoker fought Vergo. That was on Punk Hazard almost ten years ago now, so it’s been some time since they got a chance to show any kind of power. They came in guns blazing in Egghead too, especially with some like Bluegrass riding the Vegaforce One. Tenso looks like he’s going to be a major problem too, as he’s jumping right at Atlas, Franky, and the unconscious Kuma. The man has an attack where he uses the Six Powers Finger Gun through each finger while grabbing his enemy. That just seems like overkill if everyone is being honest here.
Thankfully rescue comes around just in time as Tenso is in the air. Broggy of the Giant Warrior Pirates smashes his ax straight down into the man from above. There’s no way in hell this man lived through this, and if he did, he’s going to be paralyzed for life. Franky proves himself once more to be the ride-or-die Straw Hat by saying if they have problems with Luffy they’ll have problems with him. Dorry and Broggy reassure him that they’re nothing but friends to the Straw Hats though, and that they only intend to help. The other Giant Warrior Pirates head back to their ship with the rescues, while their captains head off for the others.
Vegapunk Dies… Again
Well, how many times does this make now? Shaka, Pythagoras, and now it looks like Vegapunk himself might officially be dead. Meanwhile, York is still trying to join the Celestial Dragons, only leaving Edison, Lilith, and Atlas to carry on. There are other big problems though, like if the other Satellites can live on without him. Hopefully, the next few chapters can clarify that, because when it comes to the Satellites there are so many strange things going on. It gets even more confusing since the entire basis for the Satellites was Vegapunk’s Brain-Brain Fruit.
If the main body dies, there’s a heavy chance the others are gone too. Something like Punk Records might hold a key to keeping them around in some form, perhaps in a digital hologram or through some work with the Paw-Paw Fruit. Vegapunk figured out a way to contain a Paw-Paw Bubble, so perhaps there’s something else to that for containing his own personality. Either way, it looks like there’s a final confirmation at the end that Vegapunk’s main body is really, truly dead.
Dead Man’s Switch
There’s a brief look at a monitor somewhere in the upper Labosphere. It looks like it’s a cardiogram, recording a heartbeat, because it begins to flatline. As it does, though, something else begins. The beep of the monitor is overtaken by a message, addressed from old man Vegapunk to the people of the world. He says he has a major message for them, with something that he says is the truth of this world. From the looks of it, he had a dead man’s switch set up in the event of his death to release his findings on the Void Century. Guess he knew that they were going to kill him after all, so he took preparations without them knowing about it.
This is going to be the turning point for One Piece. After all this time with the secrets of the Void Century being covered up, countries bombed out of existence, it’s here. The atrocities that formed the World Government long ago are coming back to haunt them, and they can’t stop it now. Even already across the Grand Line, revolutions are sparking in the wake of the last Reverie. Sabo is becoming a figurehead for the masses to free themselves from tyranny. Now Vegapunk revealing the truth of the world is just going to pour gasoline on that fire with abandon.
With everything becoming such a whirlwind of action all over Egghead, it’s not hard to see it wrapping up soon. Luffy is officially serious about getting rid of Kizaru and Saturn. Meanwhile, the Giant Warrior Pirates are about to arrive and back him up. The Egghead Island Incident is getting close to its conclusion, and with Vegapunk’s declaration, we finally know what the big event is. Chapter 1108 closes out with the final calm before the storm that’s about to sweep across the entire world.
