What Happens in Episode 1075?
One Piece opens episode 1075 with another look at Luffy’s last attempt to take down Kaido. The Straw Hat Pirate, in his Gear Five form, has one long hand holding tight to Kaido. Meanwhile the other is blown into a massive fist in the clouds, crackling with red Conqueror Haki. Seriously, Luffy’s fist is as big as Onigashima itself, capable of taking the entire island down. Luffy tells Momo to get Onigashima out of the way, but the young shogun has a crisis of belief again.
Meanwhile, his sister Hiyori is facing another battle in the palace below. She thought Orochi was dead after a sea prism nail ensured he didn’t change while he burns to death, but it became dislodged. Now the Shogun of Wano has taken on his massive dragon form with many heads, but suddenly Hiyori is saved by Denjiro, who has been protecting her in disguise this entire time!
Bajrang Gun
Luffy’s big, over-the-top, final attack against Kaido really is everything that Gear Five promises in one attack. A massive fist hidden in the clouds, just as huge as Onigashima itself, emerges from under the dark cloud cover. It has a sleek coating of Armament Haki with crackles of Conqueror Haki lightning tracing the entire thing. It’s a fierce attack, and just the latest giant fist Luffy adds to his attack portfolio.
The only issue he’s having is that Onigashima is right underneath him. Luffy has a solid grip on Kaid, despite the Emperor’s attempts to burn him off. They even manage to take off one of the horns from Onigashima’s skull, sending it falling. The episode ends just as Luffy is going to hit Kaido, the dragon retaliating with his own fiery final attack.
Denjiro Returns
Things are looking extremely bleak for Hiyori when Orochi gets free of the sea prism nail that was keeping him in place. Now he takes on his mythical Zoan form, a dragon with many heads, and threaten the Kozuki’s life once more. He’s a creep, and the flashbacks to the original execution of Oden reinforce just how awful Orochi was to everyone in Wano. For any that may have forgotten why the fight is going on (since it’s been so long), Orochi allows Kaido to move in and set up all kinds of manufacturing plants. This in turn kills the land and rivers of Wano, poisoning them before turning to the people too.
Hiyori is saved last minute by Denjiro, the former vassal of her father Oden. He was undercover all this time since Oden’s death, keeping her safe as the head of the pleasure hall. The samurai makes a timely entrance by slicing all of Orochi’s heads off in one fell swoop, apologizing to the princess as he ushers her from the burning palace.
Momo Steps Up
This poor kid has been forced to grow up twenty years in the space of a couple of months. He’s been through a lot, even by adult standards. Thrown forward twenty years in time upon his parent’s death, all to be separated from those he knows. Then he eats a fake Devil Fruit and falls in with the Straw Hats. Even now as a full dragon, he’s having a crisis of faith in himself. Momo doesn’t believe he can do what he needs to, and is most afraid of failing all those he loves.
It’s easy to forget he’s just a kid who doesn’t want to make all these decisions, but he grits his teeth and gives his all. By the time Luffy gets ready to launch the Gum-Gum Bajrang Gun, Momo reinforces his will and goes all out, summoning flame clouds to haul Onigashima out of the way. Yamato, who cheers him on as support to save all that he knows, rides along.
Is Episode 1076 The End of Wano?
With the way things are going, episode 1076 should be the end of the Raid on Onigashima. It’s not a guarantee, but very likely since the Bajrang Gun was the original big finisher in the manga. That said, the end of Onigashima doesn’t mean the end of Wano, as there’s plenty of fallout to go over. The dust settles after the battle, and plenty of events around the Grand Line. Things are in turmoil, and it’s going to be an awesome sequence of events to see animated.
Episode 1075 brought another thread of One Piece’s Raid on Onigashima to a close. The death of Kurozumi Orochi is finally here, silencing once and for all one of the worst One Piece antagonists. Now, it’s up to Luffy to take down Kaido for good in the next episode. It’s sure to pick up as One Piece 1075 closes out with Kaido and Luffy’s attacks about to collide!
