What Happens in One Piece Episode 1082?
Episode 1082 is still running through the fallout of the Wano arc, with most of the Straw Hats spending their time at the massive festival. Little do many know, a fierce battle is raging outside the Flower Capital against Greenbull, a Marine Admiral bent on taking over for the World Government. His Woods-Woods Fruit powers are threatening to overwhelm the small defense force that comes to stop him, already weak.
Meanwhile, under the Flower Palace, Hitetsu, revealed as Kozuki Sukiyaki is dropping lore bombs. He brings Robin to a secret staircase, and as they descend Trafalgar D Law joins them. Hitetsu reveals that the staircase they’re walking on is at the bottom of the sea surrounding Wano. Outside a small glass window is the old Wano, now lying desolate and haunted among the aquatic life.
Greenbull’s True Colors
The story of One Piece isn’t a stranger to introducing awful Marines who don’t care about others. Greenbull is just the latest advancement in that trend, admiring Akainu for his dedication to absolute justice. The only thing is, he also believes that anyone not under the World Government umbrella doesn’t have basic human rights. Yeah, that’s not a good look to have, especially considering how the World Government already treats its citizens.
His tirade against the Wano citizens is a great show of just how evil the Marines and by extension World Government can be. Greenbull doesn’t give a damn about the lives of regular humans, and he’s only doing his tasks as Admiral because of a wild power trip. The guy is a total monster, which is only going to get worse as things spin out of control throughout the New World.
Back at the Party
Party scenes break up the more tense moments of the episode, showing the various Straw Hats running around enjoying themselves. The scene of Nami trying to shoot targets, with all the music building up for the cork to bounce off nowhere near the target, was hilarious. Then of course Chopper and Tama rooting her on add to the comedy before Usopp comes in to bring his swagger to the situation. Overall it’s fun to see everyone having fun instead of fighting for their lives.
That won’t last very long as the series is about to kick into overdrives. The Straw Hats won’t have much time to rest after Wano.
Why Doesn’t Momonosuke Want Yamato’s Help?
Poor Momonosuke isn’t quite up to using the power of his massive dragon form yet. It’s not like anyone can blame him, as he just turned from the wimpy little dragon into this massive beast literally overnight. He’s still learning to control the new powers he holds, and it’s not quite something he has down, hard as he may be trying. The other healthy Scabbards are getting kicked down right beside him, but still, Momo yells at Yamato not to fight, keeping him from the battle.
The Straw Hats just asked Yamato to join them on their journey. Momo knows that once they leave, it’s just going to be him and the samurai there to defend Wano. He wants to prove they can do that without Yamato’s help, and they’re going to do that by, defeating Greenbull with no assistance. As everyone looks on, Momo prepares to unleash a massive Blast Breath attack.
Momo Mans Up
The first Blast Breath, despite the massive build-up Momo tries putting behind it, doesn’t make anything happen. Raizo makes an attempt at Greenbull with a blast of scroll fire, but it still has no effect. The Admiral manages to fight back and take down the other Red Scabbards, while Momo struggles to get up off the ground. Things look hopeless, and he prepares for one final attempt at a Blast Breath before a familiar voice rings in his ear.
Luffy, all the way from the walls of the Flower Capital, is watching the battle. He, Zoro, Sanji, and Jimbei are all there, keeping a close eye while standing back to see how the situation plays out. One word of encouragement from Luffy, seemingly heard through the Voice of All Things, gives him the strength he needs to unleash a final attack. Not before something else happens to turn the tide of the battle though.
Shanks Intervenes (Again)
A massive blast of red Conqueror Haki lightning hits Greenbull, freezing him in place. Back on a ship outside of Wano, Shanks stands in the middle, giving off the lightning himself. Ben Beckman, his trusty First Mate, notes that it’s too much for the newer members of their crew to handle. Shanks only smiles though, knowing that he’s helping out in Wano as Momo doesn’t waste any time.
While Greenbull is held still by the Haki, Momo unleashes a Blast Breath infused with his own Conqueror Haki. The tree man burns to a toasty finish, scurrying off out of Wano with his twigs tucked between his legs. Shanks just gives a smile and Luffy notes that the Haki felt like a familiar presence. The little smiles they each give definitely look similar, and it’s going to be great when they actually meet again.
Road Poneglyph Three
While everyone is reveling or fighting up above, Nico Robin is still speaking with Hitetsu underneath the Flower Capital. He opens up a hidden stairway, revealing a long, narrow flight down into the depths. They’re joined by Trafalgar D Water Law, also curious about the Void Century and its secrets, and they find out a big one. As they near the end of the stairs, a dim light shines in from a small window. Robin and Traffy both take a look to find something that sends them into a massive shock.
They’re deep under the ocean, with the ruins of old Wano all around on the seafloor. Hitetsu explains that this was the Wano of eight hundred years ago, and says walls were constructed around the nation. As things went on, rainwater filled the country between the massive walls and caused Wano to move higher up on the mountain of the country. This isn’t even the greatest secret though, as somewhere in this sea of Wano is the Ancient Weapon Pluton. The two learn that opening Wano’s borders means destroying these walls and uncovering the Ancient Weapon for anyone to take.
Where to Now?
The episode ends with Greenbull vanquished and new secrets out in the open, but what next? The Straw Hats are satisfied with Wano’s protection after they leave, so the next episode will feature everyone finally departing the country of samurai. It should finally bring the other bounty reveals for each Straw Hat as well. That is going to be more great comedy for the series after such a serious arc with dark themes because every bounty reveal ends up being a fight over ranks.
Luffy and the others have a lot ahead of them as Episode 1082 ends, and a bright future for Wano dawns. The country is free now, and nobody is going to be able to take it from them by force. This battle with Greenbull has been a proving ground for Momo, and he’s going to fill the shoes of his father with flying colors. As the sun rises over Wano at the end of One Piece episode 1082, the Straw Hats look forward to a new journey and shocking discoveries.
