Well, that’s one showdown that wasn’t a part of the manga in One Piece. Law versus Blackbeard is the central focus of Episode 1093, showing a clash between a leading pirate and the Emperor of the Sea. It’s much more than what was in the pages of the manga, too, expanding on the fight with plenty of interaction from the different Heart Pirates. The clash between them leaves off on an unresolved note, but the action presented is awesome.

What Happens in Episode 1093?
Episode 1093 begins with the Heart Pirates racing away underwater from the Blackbeard Pirates. The bad news is that the Polar Tang isn’t holding up to the pressure so well under attack from the Emperor’s crew. Turns out that they’ve already been attacked once too, with Doc Q using a feminization disease to turn them all into women. Thankfully Law is able to put out enough Conqueror Haki to neutralize the Devil Fruit powers, but that’s only the first hurdle to this battle. The Polar Tang races toward Baltigo, the nearby land mass where they’ll make their stand against Blackbeard.
Once they get there it proves much more difficult, with Van Augur and Burgess creating even more chaos. Law puts up a valiant fight against them, even managing to slice Stronger in half as he flies Blackbeard and Doc Q in. It’s a good effort, and the Heart Pirates seem to be on a good run as Shachi and Penguin take out their ship from the water. Things don’t work out well though, and the tides turn on the Heart Pirates as it’s revealed the Blackbeard Pirates have kidnapped Charlotte Pudding, with her as a prisoner on their ship.
Law’s Femme-Form
Guess it’s going to be good to get this out of the way. Beginning with the femme form of Law made by Doc Q’s powers is on full display. This was already a huge pull for fans to go wild over when it happened in the manga. Then the animators at Toei did what they always do. Law got the endowment that every female One Piece character is cursed with. Then the disease quickly spread to the rest of the crew. Funnily enough, there was one female member on the crew already. It looked like she was happy to just finally have another girl to talk to. Imagine being stuck on a ship and the only conversation is the brooding Law or Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin who are just… idiots a lot of the time.
While the disease spreads among the crew, Law realizes that enough Conqueror Haki can nullify Devil Fruit’s power. Just like back in the Raid on Onigashima, he begins to let out as much Conqueror Haki as possible. It surges, releasing huge bursts undersea. Inside the Polar Tang doesn’t seem like the best place to do it, though. Toei really took their time with the ass shots between turning him back, too. Eventually, he does enough of a Super Saiyan impression to break out though. At the same time turning the entire crew back into men (except that one girl).
Blackbeard v Law
The Polar Tang emerges on the island of Baltigo, and Law launches into leadership mode to direct the crew. He, Jean Bart, and Bepo will hang around on the island to keep Blackbeard occupied. Meanwhile, Shachi and Penguin will work from the water, running offense against the Blackbeard Pirates ship while also protecting the island. Hakugo takes the others down into the Polar Tang, getting into position for torpedo attacks against whoever may need it. It’s always great seeing someone get to be a real captain, directing their crew with authority, and Law does a fantastic job of it.
Meanwhile, Blackbeard comes in haphazardly as always, almost crushing Doc Q and Stronger as he hitches a ride inland. Law takes them by surprise though, applying his Awakening Re-Room to slice Stronger from afar. Despite cutting the horse down in. midair, Blackbeard still manages to pull away from landing in the water thanks to some interference by others. Now the full confrontation with the Blackbeard Pirates begins, as Burgess and Van Augur also arrive on the island for the assault.
Heart Pirates Attack
Although it’s coordinated well, the Heart Pirates just aren’t enough. Especially to measure up to the overpowered Devil Fruits Blackbeard’s crew holds. Law slices apart an entire small mountain that Burgess tosses at them. Then only for Van Augur to get a shot in against Jean Bart during the chaos. Once Blackbeard finally gets to land, he begins to use his Tremor-Tremor Fruit to truly bring destruction to the island. There’s no stopping the massive quakes it creates, and it’s all Law can do to keep his footing as the island breaks apart around them.
It’s time for a last-ditch effort, with Law applying K-Room to his blade. Stretching the sword across the bay, he manages to stab right through Blackbeard. The Emperor isn’t done though. Instead in the Tremor-Tremor Fruit and Conqueror Haki fight against Law’s Op-Op Fruit/Haki combo, things get bleak. Blackbeard pulls out his ace in the hole, the Dark-Dark Fruit. A massive void begins to grow from Blackbeard’s hand, slowly engulfing the land around. Now threatening to swallow the Heart Pirates right alongside it.
Totto Land’s Destruction
While Blackbeard’s ship is being battered by torpedos from the Polar Tang, the perspective switches to a figure held in one of the cells inside. Charlotte Pudding is a prisoner of Blackbeard, with a flashback showing how she ends up with them. After the Straw Hats leave Totto Land, Katakuri, Oven, Smoothie, and a fleet pursue Germa across the Grand Line. It’s also part of their effort to find Big Mom, herself washed up on the shores of Wano. During their absence, a couple of Blackbeard Pirates appear to cause some chaos. For some reason specifically going after one of Big Mom’s children in particular.
A chilling scene shows Charlotte Cracker fruitlessly taking on Van Augur, who ends up blasting his biscuit warriors to pieces. A frozen wasteland around them begins to overtake Cracker, making him into one of many sculptures of ice scattered around. Kuzan appears like a demon from the wastes, freezing Cracker solid before tipping him over right in front of Pudding. Now she’s the captive of the Blackbeard Pirates, and unlikely to make it out alive after all is said and done. That means they may have some use for her Memo-Memo Fruit, considering they left the other Devil Fruit like Cracker’s Biscuit-Biscuit Fruit behind.
Does Law Survive?
That’s a fantastic question, and one that manga readers still don’t know the answer to! From the looks of it, the fight between him and Blackbeard didn’t end well. BUT it also is never confirmed that Law is dead or a prisoner. There will be some moments later in the arc that may give clues. Still we will see the definitive end to the battle of Blackbeard versus Law before everything is done. The only thing is, it gives a clear winner to the battle. Then leaves the overall fate and position of combatants unclear. One thing is for sure, if Bepo dies, we’re all going to have something to say about it.
Episode 1093 of One Piece has some movie-quality animation in sequences, especially once Blackbeard and Law face-off finally. It closes on an uncertain note, and the preview for next week shows that perspective is switching back to the Straw Hats. That’s not to say it’s going to slow down though, because the Straw Hats are going to come up against another couple of strong enemies from their past before they meet the real Vegapunk. Cipher Pol 0 is on its way to Egghead, and Luffy isn’t the only one who’s picked up new tricks in the series.
