He’s the First Mate of the Straw Hat Crew, Roronoa Zoro, and he’s got the power to match his bounty. Zoro is stupidly strong, even by the Straw Hats standards, and he’s fiercely loyal to his captain. So much so that he’s been a target for the World Government since his part in Alabasta, and earns him a Supernova title. So, how did Zoro get such a high bounty?
Zoro bounty after Alabasta
- Bounty: 60 Million Berries
It took until the Alabasta arc was over and done for Zoro to earn his first bounty. He’s the first of the Straw Hat Pirates after Luffy to do so and has managed to keep up with him ever since. His bounty here was for the most part due to Zoro’s part in Crocodile’s defeat during the Alabastan Revolution. When he was able to slice down Daz Bones, along with an entire building, the Navy took notice.
That’s not necessarily the first time they took notice of Zoro though. He had a little buildup at Baratie when he made an attempt at fighting Mihawk. Then there was a little more interest in Whiskey Peak after he demolished Baroque Works single-handedly. Smoker witnessed his fighting abilities firsthand though, so he finally had an eyewitness to just how much damage he could do.
Zoro Bounty after Enies Lobby
- Bounty: 120 Million Berries
Roronoa Zoro went head to head with Kaku in Water 7, and almost every member of the Navy and CP9 got an idea of how dangerous he is. While he was blown away by Kaku and Lucci initially, during his rematch he won without a doubt. Zoro took out a damn car of the Puffing Tom along with a vast amount of enemies, so he’s earned the reputation as a monster. The only unfortunate side effect of his time in Enies Lobby was the destruction of one of his swords.
The sheer insanity of his battle in Enies Lobby is in the scale of just how much it moves. Kaku uses his Giraffe-Giraffe Fruit as well as he can for the time, but it’s not enough to overcome Zoro’s power. He summons all of his might and resolves to save Robin, and the only thing he increased more than his bounty was the property damage in Enies Lobby.
Zoro Bounty after Dressrosa
- Bounty: 320 Million Berries
Yes, Zoro was lost for ninety percent of the Dressrosa arc, but that’s not to say he didn’t fight everyone he found. He probably wouldn’t have found the final battle in the first place if it wasn’t for Pica growing giant and the Birdcage closing in. Either way, he put everything he had into this fight against Pica the Stone-Stone Fruit user. He doesn’t let Pica’s increase in size phase him, and creates an entirely new fighting style with his swords to end the fight.
It hadn’t been seen much before but characters are able to coat their weapons in Haki if they’re proficient enough. Zoro uses that trick, and coats his swords with Armament Haki to reinforce their power without losing edge. He slices straight through the giant stone Pica, bringing the stupidly voiced henchmen of Doflamingo down. His feats here are a new headache for the Navy. Especially as he interacted with Fujitora to earn a massive new bounty.
Zoro Bounty after Wano
- Bounty: 1.111 Billion Berries
Zoro’s most recent victory against King in Wano brought his bounty into the billions. He gave it all in this fight, even to the point of fighting off the specter of death itself. He pulls through to finish his foe in spectacular fashion. In the end, a whole new fighting style that combines his swords, Armament Haki, and Conqueror Haki is born. Zolo creates a new ultimate fighting style, King of Hell, and it’s a fearsome, violent art form.
Then there’s the matter of who he fought during the Wano arc. Not only does he take out King, a Lunarian, he’s also the second person to leave a scar on Kaido. It helps that he has the same sword that left the first scar. Especially since it already takes a massive amount of Haki and strength to wield it. Zoro manages to tame the feisty sword Enma thought, and uses the sword to deal immeasurable damage to Onigashima.
That’s how Roronoa Zoro bounty after Wano has developed thus far in the story! His number is sure to go higher, but for now, he’s fearsome as one of the Wings of the Pirate King along with Black Leg Sanji. He will go wherever his Captain leads, and he plans on maintaining his spot as the number two bounty in the Straw Hat Pirates.
