For over two decades, one of the four emperors “Kaido, King of the Beasts” had full dictatorship of the land of Wano. To commemorate the success of the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai alliance, let’s quickly go over their significance to the samurai’s country.
The alliance was made when the straw hat and the heart pirates landed on Zou (land of Minks) to find one of Kozuki’s loyal members, Raizo of the mist. He was under protection from the Minks, as one of Kaido’s executives came to hunt him down. After all the commotion was sorted, everyone who would soon be part of the alliance went to see Raizo. Witnessing that Zou had one of the red poneglyphs which is key to finding the final island, Laugh Tale (Raftel).

Who is in the alliance?
Who exactly is involved in the alliance? Ninja, Pirate, Mink, and Samurai sound a bit too vague, so let’s dive into the specifics. Even though Raizo is the only ninja, he is still included in the title. The pirates refer to the straw hat and heart pirates. There is a slight joke reference that Captain Kid is also involved in this alliance without his consent. But that doesn’t happen till near the end of Wano.
The Minks are the habitants of Zou and they have had a deep connection with the Kozuki clan for a long time. The main minks that are involved in the alliance are Inuarashi, Nekomamushi, Carrot, and Pedro. Finally the samurai, I’m sure everyone knows who these people are. They are Momonosuke and the disciples of Kozuki Oden.
Trespassing Whole Cake Island
Alongside taking down Kaido due to his dictatorial behavior, the alliance helped Luffy to take back Sanji. As he is in use for an arranged marriage with Big Mom’s 35th daughter, Charlotte Pudding. At the start, Sanji retaliated against Luffy making the effort to bring him back to the crew. By retaliating, we’re talking about Sanji blasting a Diable Jamble on his face.
The crew was also thinking of stealing the Road Poneglyph (red Poneglyph) from Big Mom’s territory. By the end of the arc, not only does the crew succeed in bringing back Sanji, but they also steal the prints of all the Poneglyphs owned by Big Mom and Luffy manages to get a bounty increase after defeating Katakuri, Big Mom’s right-hand man. If you have seen this arc, you would agree that Brook is the MVP of this arc. Not only did he steal the road poneglyph, but he also caused a catastrophe by destroying a picture of Big Mom’s mother figure.
Bending Time: Significant events during Oden’s era
Although Kaido has been reigning Wano for over 20 years, for Momonosuke, Kinemon, Kanjurou, and Raizo, it has only been a few weeks/months. How is this possible? It’s unbelievable, but in this world there really is a devil fruit that can interact with time. During Kozuki Oden’s era (Momonosuke’s father), he was married to a female time wanderer known as Toki, and she directly sent them 20 years in the future, in the hopes of one day her son becoming the shogun of Wano.
Was it essential to send Momonosuke to the future and how did Kozuki Oden lose his status? Well, we must first go back more than 20 years from the current timeline, where Oden had no kids or a wife. As you may know, one of the strongest pirates in the world, The Whitebeard Pirates, came to Wano. At this time, Oden was desperate to leave Wano and see what the outside was like. His curiosity led him to board Whitebeard’s Moby Dick (ship name). During his journey with Whitebeard, this is when he first saw Toki and fell in love.
More Depth To The Story
One of the greatest, if not the greatest of all, Gol D Roger, the man who accomplished finding the One Piece. Roger was still seeking for the One Piece during this timeline. When Roger and Whitebeard clashed, Oden got involved but stood no chance against the greatest. Roger wanted someone who could understand the language of the poneglyphs, so he begged Whitebeard to borrow him and he gave away all his treasures.
Oden wanted to explore with Roger as well. They went to Laugh Tale and found One Piece, but Roger thought they were too early. Someone in the future has to find the One Piece, that’s why Roger made that grand speech on the day of execution.
Post-adventure changes in Wano
Everything had changed when Oden arrived back in Wano. Orochi, who had a strong vendetta against the Kozuki clan, took control of Wano, as Kaido was on his back. Orochi made a promise to back off with Oden under a certain condition, but he broke this promise. Oden retaliated by taking action, but he soon lost his life and the disciples (akazaya kunin) ran back to Oden’s castle to find Toki and her kids. After sending Momo, Kin, Kanjurou, and Raizo to the future, Toki made the speech to patiently wait 20 years for Kaido’s reign to be over.
Was the Alliance a success?
After the raid in Onigashima (Kaido’s island), the alliance came out to be a success. Not only was the entirety of Kaido’s crew taken out, but Big Mom was also dragged down from her status by Trafalgar Law and Captain Kid.
During this alliance, we managed to observe the devil fruit awakening by Law, Kid, and Luffy. After learning that Luffy’s fruit has a second name, his gear fifth unleashes and takes out Kaido in the funniest way possible. This man’s power came out from a cartoon show. The way his body, his eyes move and even the sound effects sound like it’s coming from Looney Tunes. Nonetheless, the alliance managed to achieve its long-awaited goal. Now Momo just needs to open up the borders for Wano.
