The final island of the Grand Line, only ever seen in the past eight hundred years by the Roger Pirates, Laughtale. It’s a mystery of the One Piece universe with little in the way of explanation. There’s no telling what could be there, but the one thing that is known is the One Piece, and every hope since the Void Century with it. So, what exactly is Laughtale, and how has it been hidden for so long?

What is Laughtale?
The final island of the Grand Line is not able to be found without the four Road Poneglyphs. It’s a massive undertaking just to get there, and many don’t even know it exists since Gold Roger was the first to find it. There’s just so much mystery behind it, and the island has been seemingly untouched since the Void Century. Supposedly it holds all the secrets to what happened during that time, keeping the World Government in power by hiding all of their misdeeds.
Theories for what lies in wait at Laughtale are all over the place. The island is nearly unfindable for a reason, so it obviously contains something important that a lot of people don’t want to find. There’s so much that could be hiding there, and none of it will look good for the World Government.
Road Poneglyphs
The Road Poneglyphs are the most interesting part about finding Laughtale, as it’s the only way to get there. Gold Roger risked everything to find all four to get there, and brings Oden along with him so they can read what’s on each. The Road Poneglyphs each point to a different location, and where they intersect is the location of Laughtale. Of course, this makes finding it difficult unless you have all four.
So far the Straw Hats have three, which puts them incredibly close to finding Laughtale. it’s not entirely clear who has the last Poneglyph they need, but all bets point to Shanks. Though he may not even need the Road Poneglyphs, assuming he still has information from when the Roger Pirates. Unfortunately, Shanks didn’t get to go that time because he was taking care of Buggy.
Void Century
The Void Century is still the greatest One Piece mystery after all this time, even over what the One Piece itself is. Blasted from all records, with nobody allowed to research anything about it unless they want to die. This leads Nico Robin to a life on the run and all of Ohara to a death sentence. There’s no telling what could be covered up in these hundred years. The World Government knows it could bring down their entire power structure.
Everything we know so far about the Void Century relates to Joyboy and the Ancient Kingdom. Some believe Laughtale actually is that Kingdom. The rule of Joyboy was a threat to Imu at one time, and the ruler had the original massive Straw Hat he wore stored under Marijoa. He’s definitely someone that the World Government fears, and their reaction to Nika appearing in Wano proves that.
The Roger Pirates
When the Roger Pirates set out to find Laughtale, it was in the hopes of some great treasure. Even more, something that could change the Grand Line. Roger hears about the Void Century throughout his travels. Though it was after he has to team with Figarland Garling at God Valley to stop the Rocks Pirates. He knows that something isn’t right with the Celestial Dragons, and he’s making his way to prove it since he is already dying. What can the World Government do to an already dying man, after all?
When they do eventually get to Laughtale, Roger finds out that he’s unfortunately too early in getting there. Whatever secret kept there made Roger and his entire crew collapse in laughter though, even if Roger won’t make it the twenty years until Joyboy arrives again. He now understands his role as a carrier of the Will of D though, and takes on his part. to kick off the Great Pirate Era in preparation for that day.
Kingdom of Joyboy?
This is the most likely answer to what the island is. Lately, more and more Void Century tech has appeared closer to the final destination. The mecha on Egghead Island is a relic left over from the Void Century. Theories say it was used during a massive battle and has an unknown power source. Others speculate this was a weapon used either by or against Joyboy and his kingdom.
If it really is the Kingdom of Joyboy, that would give a huge indication as to the Ancient Weapons origins. Not to mention the fear the World Government has for their secrets being found out. There’s no telling what really could be there, but something is going to be revealed at Laughtale very, very soon. Many forces in One Piece are chaotically making their way to the final island, ready or not, and things are about to heat up to supernova levels.
