One Piece is about many things. It is about never giving up, chasing your dreams, and of course, it is about family. From families by birth to the families we choose to have through our bonds. There are plenty of amazing families in One Piece, and many of them are very very strong. Here are some of the strongest families in One Piece. They aren’t just strong because of the power of their members or the power of their collective group. They are also strong because of the bonds that the members share.
7. The Vinsmoke Family
Starting with a family that at least one member of the Straw Hats would like to forget, the Vinsmoke Family of North Blue has some pretty powerful members. With genetic engineering, powerful technology, and cloning facilities at their beck and call, the Vinsmokes are a powerful force.
However, perhaps the strongest member of the family (even if he has disowned them) is the Straw Hat Sanji. He is the third strongest member of the crew after Luffy and Zoro. He also got a chance to show his estranged family what he could do during the Whole Cake Island Arc. Though he did disown them again and reaffirm his love for his adopted father.
6. The Kozuki Family
The Kozuki family has an interesting history in One Piece because they used to rule over all of Wano. While they do appear in a later arc, the strongest member of the family existed years before. Oden Kozuki was able to sail with both Whitebeard’s Pirates and the Roger Pirates. He earned the respect of both captains for his strength and skill with his swords.
He was even able to confront Kaido after the ruler had destroyed his family. Despite Kaido’s reputation as the ‘World’s Strongest Man”, Oden was able to seriously injure him in their fight, only losing due to the Emperor’s trickery. Which is certainly something that would put this family as one of the strongest.
5. Gol D. Roger’s Family
Whenever you have a family member who is the Pirate King of the world, you’ve got a powerful member. As the person who sailed the world, discovered its secrets, and kicked off the age of piracy and plenty of other events Gol D. Roger is a legend. Additionally, the rest of his family is amazing too. His lover Portgas D. Rouge used her willpower to keep her child inside of her for 20 months to protect him from the Marines.
That child was Portgas D. Ace, who would become a famous pirate in his own right. Armed with his father’s skills and the Flame-Flame Devil Fruit, Ace would join the Whitebeard Pirates and would make his mark on the world. Every member of the Gol family has had their amazing feats and powerful moments, even in their deaths. They will continue to ride into legend, that is for sure.
4. The Charlotte Family
Families in One Piece and life are made of many people. Families can include fathers, mothers, family friends, and more. However, the countless sons and daughters of the Charlotte family make up the Big Mom pirates. Her family is utterly devoted to her. Each of her children also has various Devil Fruit powers and abilities to make them powerful. Many of her favored children are also her commanders.
Along with various Haki-based abilities and Big Mom’s tactical mind, it is no wonder why Big Mom was one of the original four Emperors. She was respected and feared by both other pirate crews and the World Government. The loyalty that her family showed her was nothing short of legendary. Every time she and her family show up in the story, you can bet the world is going to change because of their appearance!
3. Whitebeard’s Family
There are a lot of reasons for Piracy in One Piece. Some people want to leave a legacy, they want to get glory, wealth, or power. But for Edward Newgate Whitebeard, he wanted a family to call his own. Once the Rocks Pirates disbanded, he set out to gather a wide variety of individuals to make his own family. With a powerful crew and several subordinate crews at his beck and call, he’s succeeded.
His pirates saw him as their father, and he saw his crew as his children. This made them willing to do anything for one another. Especially during the Marineford Arc, when Whitebeard’s crew came to save Ace from execution. However, the ensuing battle would end in tragedy with the deaths of Whitebeard and Ace.
2. The Monkey D Family
Whether the member you are looking at is Monkey D. Luffy, Monkey D. Dragon, or Monkey D. Garp, the Monkey Family is always going to be powerful. Garp was able to constantly battle Gol D. Roger and some of the other powerful characters of the past with solely his strength.
While Luffy has been growing ever since his first adventure. Both growing in power with new Haki abilities and Gears, but also growing as a leader. The Straw Hats have gone from a motley crew to a Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Plus Luffy is on track to become the true Pirate King. This is one family that the entire world is set to have their eyes on!

They are not related to one another by blood, but rather by a dream and their shared loyalty to one another. The Straw Hats have known love, loss, betrayal, and heartache, but at the end of it all they stand beside one another. Their members consist of three of the strongest fighters in the world, as well as others. Each with their own accolades and awesome moments against countless enemies and large threats.
The Straw Hats are a true family, and as the entire series shows, they are a family that can take on the world. When they stand together, anyone who tries to get in their way had better watch out!
