The new Onigashima DLC pack is finally out for One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, but the characters will need some upgrades. If you’re new to the game, it’s always a good idea to focus on one character, but those returning after a hiatus from the game may find themselves short on Berry. So, this guide will help players who want to crush enemies such as Gear Fifth Luffy or Kaido upgrade characters in no time!
One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 is available to buy on Steam, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
Who Should You Upgrade First in Pirate Warriors 4?
There are two decent ways to farm Berry and coins, but the first thing that’s needed is a good character to do it with. Newcomers to the game will have a pretty limited selection, but can get most Straw Hat Pirates decently powerful pretty quickly in Dramatic Log. Depending on player preference there are a few ways to level up the members to do what you want, but outside of the Straw Hats, there are better options. If just focusing on the main Straw Hats though, Luffy and Zoro are always the best bets for tearing through crowds quickly.
Otherwise, there are decent options available early that can be upgraded pretty easily. Whitebeard and Ace are chief among them, with both dealing heavy damage with little effort put into their skill maps. The best one that I’ve personally found for collecting massive amounts of items though, in conjunction with the right skills, is Trafalgar Law.
Best Characters for Grinding Berry
Okay, so if you’re not a new player to Pirate Warriors 4 then most characters are probably already available and upgraded. That means there’s going to be some Berry and Coins needed to upgrade the new characters though, because nobody is fun to play as without all their combos unlocked. Characters with abilities that allow stealing items or gathering them from around are the best to use, which is why Trafalgar Law is the recommendation. His Scan ability, especially when in the middle of a large crowd, can steal massive amounts of Berry from enemies.
The other recommendations are to do one thing and one thing only- rack up a body count. The higher the body count, the higher the Berry, and that’s easiest with big, powerful characters. Whitebeard is the best for this, as his strength and stamina stats are exceptionally stupid high. He’ll mow through crowds with no problem, and in the event players aren’t rushing through objectives, can easily clear above ten thousand KOs if he wants.
Skills To Use
Prioritize skills that will give more Berry and Coins, so the Cat Burglar and Coin Collector are a must. Cat Burglar is from Nami, while Coin Collecter is on the basic map. The other skill that will help drive acquisition during battle is Bounty Hunter. This allows more defeated enemies to drop big amounts of Berry when killed.
Stages That Give the Most Berry/Coins
The Dramatic Log isn’t a great place for leveling up, in all honesty. Where most players will want to go for grinding out resources is the Treasure Log. Specifically in the New World section of missions. The best one for it is the True Pirate Warriors mission, which brings players against many tough enemies. It’s really great for upgrading souls in Soul Map as well, since it pits players against even more main foes.
For players not quite ready for the New World, there are mission variants throughout Treasure Log that are bounty-centric. These have players fight against waves of enemies to increase their bounties until they hit a certain limit. Both Berry and Coins drop in great numbers as the only limit to is the Bounty number. This only really goes up when major characters are go down though. Use someone like Whitebeard or Law and his Scan ability to maim or steal to your heart’s content.
Hopefully, these strategies are at least a little helpful in upgrading the newest DLC characters in Pirate Warriors 4. It’s been a long time coming to get Gear Fifth Luffy in the game, and from personal experience playing as a no-upgrades version really sucks. With a little investment, though, the new characters make for an awesome time, and the DLC for One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 is off to a great start!
