Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria is getting closer to its grand reopening in October, with producer Blumhouse dropping the latest trailer Five Nights at Freddy’s film adaptation. Thankfully, the long-awaited movie seems to make the complicated lore of the games more easily accessible to new and old fans alike.

Five Nights at Freddy’s was one of the biggest events to come from 2014, made by one man as a passion project and filled with all kinds of intricate lore that players had to pay attention to learn about. Clues could be difficult to find, requiring multiple playthroughs or specific interactions throughout each of the first four games, which were all released in the span of two years. Finally, through the effort of fans and players worldwide, as well as a few confirmations from creator Scott Cawthorn, players found out the true story of the tragedy that befell Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria.
The movie seems to stick to the same general plot of the first game- a man gets hired as an overnight security guard, things get weird, and animatronics try to kill him. What the movie is doing though is mixing in events and characters from the other games in the series, telling a more complete picture of the events as opposed to breaking up the lore through multiple games that presented everything out of order.

- The Grand Re-Opening- Animatronics began to act strangely at night, even while locked down.
While there are currently no plans for a sequel, Blumhouse will likely announce one not long after the first releases. With almost ten games in the franchise at this point and plenty of books to pull from as well, Five Nights at Freddy’s could have near-infinite sequel material, or even a prequel much like the games. No doubt there are still plenty of original stories to tell in the world still, with a new game scheduled for 2024 and even more possibly planned beyond.
The film looks to combine the events of the first game with the prequel story of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, with the present story revealing the truth behind five missing children and the ‘Bite of 87’ that caused the Pizzeria’s haunting when a child was attacked by one of the animatronics. So far, everything revealed in Five Nights at Freddy’s movie adaptation seems to be shaping up for a frightfully fun time when it hits theaters and Peacock on October 27, 2023.
